Review of School Rules re: Dangerous Items and Cell Phones Jan. 23, 2012 Dear Parents/Guardians: We have recently had several problems with students having prohibited items in their possession at school, particularly lighters and cell phones. These items are very different, yet both interfere with our ability to provide a safe, productive learning environment for all our students at Stanley Park. We have reviewed the rules with all students, and non-compliance will have significant consequences. Please review carefully with your child to ensure s/he understands the importance of abiding by school rules. We also ask that parents do not text or call students during the school day. Students may always be reached through the office in the event of an emergency or change of plans. Simply call 519-578-3750 and we will connect you with your child, or pass along a message as needed.
Students are not permitted to have anything at school that endangers others. This includes weapons, lighters or matches, as they could all endanger the safety and well-being of others in the school community. There is no legitimate reason for students to have these items at school, and possession of any weapons, matches or lighters will result in an immediate suspension.
All students are aware of Board and school policy regarding electronic devices such as cell phones, I-Pods, etc. These devices must be turned off and kept in student lockers. If students are concerned about losing the device, they should leave it at home. The school is not responsible for loss or damage involving any personal property. If students are found with their cell phone or other electronic devices during the school day, the device will be confiscated and kept at the office until a parent comes to the school to pick it up.

Severe Weather Procedures There is always a possibility of severe winter weather causing bus cancellations or school closure. Information is available on local radio stations, as well as the
WRDSB website www.wrdsb.ca . Please do not telephone the school regarding cancellations. In most cases, buses may be cancelled but schools will remain open. Only in extreme situations will all schools be closed. Please listen to one of the following stations to hear announcements regarding school closure or bus cancellation.
